Līmen Vitae
2026
Invasive autumn olive and wild rose were cleared and used as armatures for earth. A ~30 feet in diameter, 3 feet tall, earth work in Westminster, Vermont. Commissioned by In Situ Commons Polyculture. The work lives in a slightly shaded fern grove at the threshold of the forest and beginning of the meadow. A naturally occurring waterway allows water to flow through the work. The piece was seeded with wildflower mix.
Līmen Vitae is Latin for threshold of life. The process consisted of three parts: Clearing, Digging, and Shaping. Each phase of the work was an inner threshold mirrored in outer movement.
A naturally occurring waterway was widened and deepened to allow water to flow through the work.
